    Promoting your own business

I'm self-employed and my customers come to my town for work. They rent houses for work. 99% are male, and 98% travel with a handgun.

I got a Walther PPK (James Bond gun) and getting final approval for a silencer. I thought about putting my business logo and phone number on the side of the silencer and let my tenants take a picture of themselves holding the gun. Naturally they will share the photo with their friends/coworkers. Those people will then have my contact info if they ever come here for work. The guys holding the gun in the photo would be my reference.

Think it will work? I'm marketing directly to the people that come here.

In the past I've mailed out information to the H.R. departments of companies but that gets me nowhere except for a lighter wallet.

In today's world, I would tread lightly. A lot depends on where you're located and the kind of work you're talking about. I think I'd start with a "local" attorney that handles firearm cases and is familiar with the law in your area.

    Re: Promoting your own business

I’ve found it helps to just be part of the chat first and let people get to know you before you mention what you do. If it fits naturally, you can drop in something you use yourself, like how smarterbusiness.co.uk cut my utility bills, without making it feel like a pitch. Folks seem way more open when it feels like a real conversation instead of a billboard.
